The topic of mental health includes both mental illness and mental wellness. As obvious as this may seem, your mental health has a lot to do with your thoughts. Sometimes it’s not as easy as “think good, feel good,” especially if you’re going through a hard time, however, training your brain with affirmations can begin to transform your overall wellness. Being aware of and deliberate with your thoughts is an important first step to any wellness routine.
A 2009 study by Arizona State University found that, “Affirmations relating to ‘not being crazy’ in relation to anxiety and that the depression will subside in time were deemed most helpful for recovery.” [i]
Here are mental health affirmations specifically for athletes although they’re also good for anyone with an active lifestyle.
