20 Athlete Affirmations for Life After Sports

The transition into life after sports can be a tough one. Athletes often find themselves questioning their identity, feeling isolated, and struggling to adapt to a different lifestyle among other challenges. It’s no wonder that mental health struggles often emerge during this transitional period.  In this article, I’ll share some of my favorite affirmations for athletes who are looking to live their best lives after sports. Keep in mind that affirmations are just one tool, and while they can be immensely helpful, working with a professional who specializes in the transition into life after sports is a great place to start your journey.

Life After Sports Affirmations

  1. I am more than an athlete. I have many talents and gifts. I am a whole person.
  2. I am ready to evolve into the next chapter of my life. I am ready to embrace it and receive it.
  3. I am capable of creating a fulfilling life plan for my mind, body, and soul.
  4. Each day is a new step in the process of being me. I give myself grace during this process.
  5. Remember the good times, look forward to the future, and make the most of the present.
  6. I am attracting a new team so that we can align to reach our goals.
  7. I am willing to be accountable to myself for my future.
  8. It’s okay to not have all the answers and ask for help along the way. I will not let my ego box me in.
  9. I am driven enough to create new goals and humble enough to work my plan.
  10. I’m right where I’m supposed to be. Even if I don’t understand it just yet, it will be clear to me as long as I keep putting in right effort.
  11. Everything happens one step at a time.
  12. Changes in life are inevitable. I’m open and ready to navigate the course.
  13. I am grounded and steady with inner stillness. I see clearly.
  14. I am accepting and compassionate of my emotions, but I do not let them boss me around.
  15. Life is a journey that’s not always easy but there are always positive solutions available at every twist and turn.
  16. I am capable of living a different life and being fully satisfied.
  17. I am responsible with my finances.
  18. I am capable of creating new avenues of success.
  19. I am mindful of the people who I allow in my circle. I stick with people who want the best for me.
  20. When I think of change, I think of opportunity.

The transition into life after sports can sometimes feel like a rehabilitation process because you’re adopting a completely new lifestyle. You’ll have to tap into various strengths and discipline to shed old habits that no longer serve you. There are plenty of solutions available to help you during this time.
